Car Insurance Mercury (Car Insurance). I bought a 05 chevy equinox with a 3400 eng.?I bought a 05 chevy equinox with a 3400 eng.? I am wondering where the dipstick is located for trans. You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carquotes.sinfree.net Should be located near the firewall on either the right or left side. Check the owners manual if you have one available. It should be near the firewall and a little towards the passenger side if it is not visible on the driver side int he back, then look straight down in front of the master cylinder if you see a red or black cap that is almost 2 inches in diameter, that is a trans that has a check plug to check the level. if that is it, go mack to the dealer and have them check it. ive done many but it is dificult to explain the procedure. Mercury . How to Replace a Motorcycle Exhaust SystemOne of the most obvious external engine parts on a motorcycle is its exhaust system; the exhaust pipes are typically chromed or coated in some other shiny, eye-catching compound. Replacing a motorcycle's exhaust system is one of the easiest ways to not only dress-up the bike and give it a custom look, but also to improve its engine note and overall performance. Whether choosing a pair of slip-on mufflers for a sport bike or a full-on, double-chromed open muffler exhaust for a cruiser, a good custom exhaust can make your bike stand out in a crowd. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Shop manual specific to your motorcycle Ratchet Sockets Combo-wrenches Breaker Torque wrench New exhaust system Anti-seize compound Step by Step : 1 Consult your shop manual regarding the different connection points where the exhaust system is bolted to the motorcycle's frame. Loosen and remove manifold bolts and any other bolts connecting the exhaust system to the motorcycle, following the instructions in your shop manual. Remove and dispose of old exhaust gaskets. Set the old exhaust system aside for disassembly and disposal. 2 Test-fit the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipes to ensure that they line up properly. Install new exhaust gaskets, following the instructions in your shop manual. Install the new manifold by reversing the steps used to remove the old one. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts and any exhaust pipe bolts to the torque specs outlined in your shop manual. 3 Slip the mufflers onto the exhaust pipes. Secure the mufflers both to the exhaust pipes and to the motorcycle's frame. Torque all exhaust system bolts down to the torque specifications recommended in the shop manual. Tips & Warnings Coat all bolts and studs in the exhaust system and motorcycle cylinder head with anti-seize compound to prevent them from seizing or fusing together. Make sure to test fit the exhaust system to ensure that all the pieces are there and they fit together and that the exhaust system fits the bike. Do not attempt to change or remove exhaust system parts directly after the bike has been running. A motorcycle's exhaust system gets extremely hot and contact with hot parts can cause serious burns. Mercury . How to Increase the Horsepower in a Chevy TahoeThe Tahoe is a full-size SUV from American manufacturer General Motors. The Tahoe replaced the full-size Blazer in the Chevrolet lineup of trucks while GMC refers to the same platform as the Yukon. The Tahoe has sold in large numbers and has a loyal buyership. Like any large, heavy vehicle, the Tahoe can benefit from a little more horsepower. There are several ways to add power to the Tahoe's V6 and V8 engines. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Socket set and ratchet Specialty automotive tools Step by Step : 1 Replace the exhaust. Whether it's a V8- or a V6-powered Tahoe, the stock exhaust system is fairly restrictive thanks to its small diameter. A larger diameter exhaust and performance muffler will allow the motor to run more efficiently and produce more horsepower. An exhaust system should be installed by a muffler shop since it takes special cutting and welding tools and a lift to make the job easier. 2 Install tubular headers. The manifolds on a V6 or V8 Tahoe are the components that are bolted to the head and route spent exhaust gases from the engine to the exhaust. Stock manifolds are cast, which results in smaller than optimal passages and a rough surface, both of which slow the flow of exhaust gases. Tubular headers are bolted to the engine in place of the stock manifolds and feature smooth surfaces and bends and a larger internal diameter, all of which are good for power. 3 Install a cold air intake. Though the Tahoe is a sport utility vehicle, there are several companies that make and sell a cold air intake to replace the stock air box. The air box restricts optimal airflow to the motor because of its design. A cold air intake consists of larger diameter tubing and a larger air filter that delivers additional cold, dense air to the Tahoe's motor. To install this, simply disconnect the stock air box from the engine and remove the air box from the engine bay. The new cold air intake installs in its place. 4 Install a high performance chip in the computer. This will reprogram the engine's computer so that it receives more fuel, spark and air as well as change the timing to a more aggressive setting intended to increase performance. *The first sign of overheating is when the temperature gauge needle pushes its way into the ominous red zone, or the "Check Engine" or "Temperature" light on the dashboard glows a sinister scarlet. Left alone, the liquid in the radiator eventually boils over, and steam rolls out from under the hood. If you ignore the problem, your vehicle eventually loses power, your engine grinds to a halt, and you end up with a giant repair bill. If you take action at the first indication of a problem, you can probably avoid this doomsday scenario. Even if you end up needing major repairs, at least you'll know that you explored all the cheaper options first. Addressing occasional overheating Almost every vehicle overheats occasionally. Usually, the cause of the problem is nothing more than being stuck in stop-and-go traffic on an excruciatingly hot day. If this happens to you while you're on the road, the section called "If 669

Healing With a chronic hothead If your vehicle overheats often and constantly loses liquid, the problem may be caused by a leak — or leaks — in your cooling system (see "Finding and Repairing Coolant Leaks" later in this chapter). If your vehicle overheats in normal weather and traffic, you may need to replace the thermostat, adjust the fan belts, or check the water pump. You can deal with most of these problems cheaply and easily by following the instructions in later sections of this chapter. Identifying other causes of overheating Some overheating problems aren't related to the cooling system at all. Other circumstances that can cause a vehicle to overheat include lack of oil, a blown head gasket, and transmission problems. If the cooling system seems to be in good order after you check it and do the maintenance work in this chapter, investigate these possibilities: Chapter 14: Keeping Your Car from Getting Heartburn v0 Late timing: If you haven't tuned and timed your engine recently, late timing may be causing it to overheat by making the spark plugs fire the fuel/air mixture after the piston moves back down from the top of its stroke. When the spark plugs fire too late to allow all the gases to burn properly, more heat burdens your cooling system. Late timing alone doesn't cause a car to overheat by more than a few degrees, but coupled with other problems, it can bring the engine temperature to a critical point. The remedy is simple: Just check your timing and adjust it by following the instructions in Chapter 12. v* Plugged radiator: Some radiators get so plugged up with rust, sediment, or small insects that even cleaning and flushing them doesn't get all the junk out. Because plugged passages cut down on the system's liquid circulation, the system can't cool efficiently. The remedy is to have a radiator specialist remove and steam clean the radiator. v* Slipping fan belt: Check the fan belt or accessory belt that drives the water pump to be sure that there's no more than about % inch of give. If the belt is looser than that, it may not be driving the pump properly, and that can impair circulation and overheat the cooling system. If your fan belt seems loose or very frayed, replace it according to the instructions in "Adjusting and Replacing Accessory Belts" later in this chapter. v0 Collapsing bottom radiator hose: Occasionally, a bottom radiator hose begins to collapse under the vacuum that the water pump creates, and the impaired circulation causes overheating. Here's how to check the hose: Mercury . How to increase the car's horsepower with minimal cost?
minimal cost lets see maybe removing the clutch fan and adding an electric or maybe an intake system (homemade if u want minimal... Lincoln Mark VIII. * If your car starts to overheat, park safely and open the hood without shutting off the engine. Make sure that the car is in Park with the parking brake on. Then take a look at the bottom hose (be careful not to get your hair or clothing caught in the fan or the fan belt) and see whether the hose has collapsed. If it has, replace it. You can find instructions for replacing hoses later in this chapter. v* Low oil level: If you still can't find the cause of overheating, check your oil dipstick. A vehicle that's low on oil tends to overheat because the oil removes from 75 to 80 percent of the "waste heat" in your engine (in addition to doing its other job of cushioning the moving engine parts). If you're 1 quart low in oil and your vehicle holds 5 quarts, the oil can carry away 20 percent less heat (the oil cools off in the crankcase). See Chapter 3 for instructions on checking the oil level and adding oil. Under normal circumstances, you can prevent overheating by checking the level of liquid in the system and maintaining it properly. The next sections tell you how to do so. Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System Checking and Adding Liquid to Hour Cooling System One of the quickest, easiest, and least expensive tasks you can perform to keep your cooling system cool is to check the fluid level in the system and add water and coolant, if necessary. Before you attempt to do anything to your cooling system, be aware of two important safety rules: Mercury . Will a car amp work without a heatsink?

Never add cold water to a hot engine! a pressure cap safety Before you can do anything involving your cooling system, you need to know how to remove the pressure cap safely. There's almost no reason to remove the pressure cap from the radiator or coolant recovery system reservoir while the engine is still warm. Because it's hard to tell just how hot things are inside the engine, follow these guidelines when removing a pressure cap: Never remove the cap from a radiator or reservoir when the engine is hot. If your car overheats on the freeway, get to the side of the road, shut off the engine, and then wait 15 to 20 minutes for things to cool down. You can lift the hood to help the heat escape, but leave the pressure cap alone. Because adding cold water to a hot engine is automotive suicide, you have no reason to get the cap off until the engine cools down. Keep your cool until your car Mercury .
